Reflection on my final piece

After a feedback from  my tutor  I thought of certain issues which are their in my garments but may be later I can think of highlighting them the way she has pointed out like I could  use the tie die patterns to indicate where the wearer must tie or knot the garrment? Maybe  use some of  tie die in digital printing and manipulate that pattern further so that the pattern can be controlled and placed on the garment in a different way.
But For now I have tried to play with the concept of 'KNOTTING' in the garments I have constructed & styled so far. As I have used  knotting not only  as a fastening mechinism but also to change the silhouette and surface of the garment.  So I have combined the knotting and tie die so that these two elements become instructions for changing the garment.

Sneak Peak into "my final garment" the way it looks

References for the make up & hair style for the photoshoot

Since my garments are simple in terms of garment category so to have a subtle contrast in the photo shoot I aim to have a hairstyle which is a blend of little exaggeration to have a visual appeal & make up which adds emphasis to the eyes and minimalist in terms of the entire make up. So I want the hair to stand out showing the modern day women with panache.

Looks

According to my concept I have been looking into looks as my garment which can be worn in more ways than one so taking into account that they could be worn in mim 3 & maximum 4 ways I was thinking about the various looks that could be.So I came up with the following:

1 Street Chic
2 Metropolitan City/City Landscape/City Grunge
3 Sunday Brunch
4 Dinner at 8
5 Romance in the Evening
6 Rooftop Cocktail
7 Classic Diva
8 Casual Spunk

so keeping in mind that its about INTRANSIT where a woman is traveling from places to places leading a busy lifestyle so she could style herself with different looks keeping the above looks or theme in mind.

I might or might not use them when I would be styling my garments because I would get to know about this once my garment is ready & then I would think about the styling in detail.

Doing Tie & dye

I tried various option and techniques for tie & dye the results were interesting but I did faced lot of problems as in tie & dye the color and effect didn't came out the same every time and to add on the effect on sample and entire fabric according to the pattern came out different each time I tried so it all lead to a series of different trial methods

HOW CAN A GARMENT BE WORN & STYLIZED IN MANY WAYS

Certain changes in the  concept and the words as recommended by a tutor & also as following the process my thoughts became clearer

AIM OF PROJECT:
My aim is to create  designs  which can be worn in multiple ways to enhance the wearability and stylization of the garment; which would be effected by  the location, lifestyle and socialization of the consumer. Hence this system might encourage the consumers to keep hold of their unique garments for longer due to their multi purpose and transformability of  the design.  Addressing the issues of sustainability.

MATERIALS& PROCESSES USED :  Since I was inspired by the street& style of London in specifically the  roman statues of London  and the drapes  depicted through them so to take them further and come up with different way of exploring drapes I had used already existing apparel for my design development and tried to explore those through draping and other means on the dress form to create trendy contemporary silhouettes. I have also explored surface pattern techniques through the traditional use of tie & dye technique inspired from blistered and rustic effect of the Roman sculptures.

DISCOVERY/PRODUCE:I discovered new way of design exploration and pattern making, draping through the means of exploring already existing apparel bought from the market.I also found how historical sculptures could be served asa inspiration for more contemporary designs and fabric exploration.

Problem being Faced

According to my concept in which a user could wear a garment in more ways than one so for which I thought of having few indications for the user to know how to  go from one change to other in a garment for which I had thought of plastic hooks ,snap button  but the problem was that the hooks were available which were the steel ones which looked pathetic on my design and the plastic white ones are only manufactured for factories on orders so they were not available for me.So now I only left with the option of button button hole I shall try it out hope that works because of the snap button the fabric got torn at places and it was not suitable for knit fabrics. I also tried the option of knots as means of opening and closing in the garment which also came out fine so i might go with that option.

The other difficulty which I was facing was that I had tried to combine the hand paint and tie & dye technique together on the knit fabric but it doesn't seem to work so I would stick to only a tie & dye technique but also in terms of my design styles I would now work on the placement in terms on my styles.
